Houston's Purest Townhome Neighborhood
Rice Military takes its name from the Rice family land and the WWI-era Camp Logan that became Memorial Park. The shotgun houses and bungalows are mostly gone. What replaced them is one of Houston's densest urban-infill zones — gated clusters of three- and four-story townhomes on narrow lots, ground-floor garages, rooftop terraces with downtown skyline views. Washington Avenue runs along the north edge. Buffalo Bayou borders the south. Five minutes to downtown, steps from Memorial Park.
Rice Military is the purest townhome moving job in Houston. Three flights minimum, often four if there's a rooftop level. The garage is the only way in and it's rarely wider than one car. Shared driveways are the norm — trucks stage on the street while crews carry through pedestrian gates and down narrow drives. Street parking competes with Washington Avenue bar and restaurant traffic one block north. The location keeps people moving here despite all of it. Garage widths are tight (often just one car wide plus a few feet), ceiling clearance is limited, and there's minimal space to stage items between the truck and the staircase. Crews need to work in a linear flow: truck → garage → stairs.

Townhome developments in Rice Military are typically gated with shared driveways that fit one car width. Moving trucks cannot enter the gate or pull into the driveway — they stage on the street while crews carry items through the pedestrian gate and down the shared drive to the unit.
