The Route

This is the most popular long-distance move in Texas, and we do it almost every week.

It's 165 miles, almost all highway, and a loaded truck does it in about three and a half hours. We take I-10 west and cut north on 71 — or run 290 the whole way when 71 is backed up near Bastrop. Our crews have driven both routes enough times to know which one to pick on which day.

If you're moving from Austin to Houston, the same applies in reverse. We pick up in Austin, load in Austin, and deliver to wherever you're landing in the Houston area. Same crew, same truck, same pricing.

Why a Houston-Based Mover

Why We Beat the National Carriers on This Route

When you call a national moving company for a Houston-to-Austin move, here's what actually happens: they give you a quote, then they subcontract your move to whichever local crew is available that week. You don't know who's showing up until they show up. The price you were quoted rarely matches the price you pay.

We're the crew. There's no middleman. The people who answer your call are connected to the people who load your truck. We run our own trucks and drive the route ourselves. For an in-state move like Houston to Austin, that means we can price it lower than the nationals and deliver better service — because we're not splitting the fee three ways between a broker, a carrier, and a dispatcher you'll never talk to.

What to Expect

How Your Houston to Austin Move Works

A Houston-to-Austin move is a one-day job for most households.

Our crew arrives at your Houston address in the morning, loads everything, and drives to Austin. Depending on the size of your home and what time we start, delivery happens the same afternoon or early evening. For larger homes — four bedrooms and up, or homes with significant garage and attic inventory — we may split it across two days with an overnight hold on the truck.

You'll get a single point of contact who coordinates the entire move. We'll walk through your inventory beforehand so there are no surprises on moving day. Packing services are available if you want them — either full-pack (we pack everything) or partial-pack (we handle the fragile and awkward stuff, you handle the rest). Both options are priced separately and quoted up front.

Delivery in Austin means placing furniture where you want it, reassembling beds and tables we disassembled on the Houston end, and removing all packing materials if you used our packing service.

Transparent Pricing

What It Costs — and Why It Costs Less

We don't charge by weight, and we don't pad estimates with "fuel surcharges" and "stair fees" that mysteriously appear on moving day. You'll get a flat estimate based on your inventory, the distance, and whether you need packing services. The number we quote is the number you pay — assuming the inventory doesn't change between the estimate and the move.

For a route this common, we can almost always beat what a national carrier quotes you. We don't have broker overhead. We're not coordinating across five states. We're driving I-10 to 71 and coming home.

Common Questions

Houston to Austin — FAQ

How much does it cost to move from Houston to Austin?

It depends on inventory size, not distance alone. A one-bedroom apartment move and a four-bedroom house move are fundamentally different jobs. We price based on what you're moving, whether you need packing, and any access challenges at either address (stairs, long carry, elevator reservations). Request a free estimate and we'll give you a flat number.

How far in advance should I book a Houston-to-Austin move?

Two to three weeks is comfortable. If you're moving at the end of the month — when most leases turn over — book earlier. Summer months (May through August) are our busiest season because of UT move-ins and family relocations during school breaks.

Can you move me from Austin to Houston?

Yes. We pick up in Austin and deliver anywhere in the Houston metro area. Same crew, same truck, same pricing structure. The direction doesn't change the cost.

Is my stuff insured during the move?

Yes. We carry full liability coverage on every move. We'll explain the coverage tiers and what they mean in plain English during your estimate — not in fine print on page six of a contract.
