The Neighborhood
From Railroad Town to Master-Planned Corridor
Tomball started as a railroad and farming town 30 miles northwest of downtown Houston. The historic depot and German heritage festivals still anchor a downtown that feels nothing like the master-planned communities spreading around it. Northpointe, Lakewood Pine, Cross Creek — these are the neighborhoods driving Tomball's growth, filled with 2,200-4,000+ square-foot homes and families drawn by Tomball ISD's reputation. The small-town identity hasn't been erased. It's just surrounded now.
Tomball moves combine distance, volume, and HOA rules. Highway 249 between the Beltway and Tomball is slow during commute hours, and the Grand Parkway toll adds cost to routing. Once inside the subdivisions, access is excellent — wide streets, proper driveways, generous lots. The homes are large and fully loaded. Tomball sits at the outer edge of most moving companies' service radius, which means fewer options for residents. We've been making the drive since 2009.

What to Expect
Moving Challenges in Tomball
Every neighborhood has its quirks. Here's what makes moving in Tomball different — and why experience matters.
Distance from central Houston on Highway 249
Tomball is 28-35 miles northwest of inner-loop Houston. Highway 249 (Tomball Parkway) is the primary route, and traffic between the Beltway and Tomball can be stop-and-go during commute hours. Trip charges apply.
Master-planned community HOA protocols
Northpointe, Lakewood Pine, Cross Creek, and surrounding communities have standard HOA restrictions on commercial vehicles, move-in hours, and pod/dumpster placement. Some newer communities with active construction phases may have additional access restrictions.
Grand Parkway (99) toll costs in routing
The most efficient route to many Tomball-area communities involves the Grand Parkway, a tolled highway. Toll costs factor into move pricing and should be discussed during the estimate.
